Free privacy policy generator for Squarespace websites. Covers form blocks, newsletter signups, cookies, analytics, and commerce. Copy into a Squarespace page in 60 seconds — no signup.
Squarespace sites look effortless, but under the hood they collect real personal data. Form blocks and newsletter blocks store names and email addresses (often synced to Mailchimp or Squarespace Email Campaigns). Squarespace Analytics logs visitor activity, and the platform sets functional and (if enabled) marketing cookies. Add Squarespace Commerce or Acuity Scheduling and you are processing billing addresses, appointment details, and payment data too.
Any of that triggers the standard disclosure laws: GDPR for EU visitors, CCPA/CPRA for Californians, and CalOPPA for virtually any commercial site with California traffic. Squarespace gives you cookie-banner controls under Settings → Cookies & Visitor Data, but the privacy policy itself — the document explaining what you collect and why — is something you have to write and publish yourself. Squarespace's own terms make clear that your site's legal compliance is your responsibility.
The generator below is preset for a typical Squarespace site: email collection, cookies, and analytics are on. Fill in your details and copy the result. Then in Squarespace go to Pages, click + under Not Linked (so it does not clutter your navigation), choose Blank Page, name it “Privacy Policy”, and paste the text into a text block. Finally, edit your footer and add a link to the new page — a footer link on every page satisfies the “conspicuous posting” requirement reviewers and regulators look for. If you sell through Squarespace Commerce, toggle “Sells products or services” on first.
Why a Squarespace site needs a privacy policy
For a typical Squarespace site enable: “Collects email addresses”, “Uses cookies”, and “Google Analytics” (also covers Squarespace Analytics). Add “Sells products or services” for Commerce.

We display advertisements served by third-party advertising partners, including Google AdSense. These third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads) or by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices to opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising. Third-party ad networks operate under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.
